This scale-shaped gold ornamental
piece, unearthed in Lixian County, Gansu Province, and currently
preserved in Gansu Provincial Museum, has a height of 12.1 centimeters and a
width of 7.65centimeters
They were made of gold with the shape
of scale. The decoration of the surface consisted of three parallel lines, one
arc and a triangle in the middle is like two mouths or the Chinese character
“宫”.
These are lots of scale-shaped gold
ornamental pieces discovered in the Qin-Dynasty tomb. These scale-shaped
gold ornamental pieces are considered as parts of the bird’s wings on the coffin. One the one side,
these unique decorations show the people’s worship to their ancestor; on the
other side, they present the excellent skills in metallurgy.
