Bronze He-wine vessel
Western Zhou Dynasty (About 1046—771B.C)
Height 28.5cm
Unearthed from Western Zhou Dynasty tomb no.2 at Baicaopo, Lingtai County, Gansu
Preserved in Gansu Provincial Museum
This Li-like bronze He-wine vessel with round mouth, deep belly, lid, spout in the front, handle in the rear, a chain which links the lid and the handle and three feet is decorated with fine-line beast design at neck part of the lid and double rows of tri-angle and zigzag line design on the belly. The dignified shape, complicated and mysterious pattern together with six-word inscription inside the lid and four-word inscription inside the handle of this ware tell that it might be made in name of the tomb owner.
